Technical description Renault 16 TS 1968

BRAKES
A very interesting part is the brake pressure limiter valve which effect is depending on the weight on the rear suspension. It is not a common brake limiter set at a fixed point. The anti-roll bar is being linked with the piston of the brake pressure limiter valve. When the piston is being closed (situated at one end of the limiter) it limits the breaking pressure up to a previously determined value. But as the rear suspension gets more weight onto it, the piston is being moved, thus allowing a greater brake pressure onto the rear brakes. In this way, blocking of the rear wheels at low weight is being prevented and at the same time ensuring enough braking power at high weight is guaranteed
