Technical description Renault
16 TS 1968
ENGINE
The cylinder head and case engine are made out of aluminium and
therefore the weight of the engine is no more than 100 kilo’s. The
engine is mounted on three rubber supports, two ‘cushions at the sides,
on at the front of the gear change unit. The cooling circuit is fully
closed and benefits from a permanent anti frost fill and an expansion
bottle. A refinement of the cooling circuit is the through a thermo
relays on/off switched radiator fan which is empowered by a small
electronic engine. This saves petrol and reduces the engine noise
because while driving most of the time there is no need for forced
cooling; the thrust of the wind while driving normally supplies enough
cooling air.
